Stunt & Action Industry Directory

An independent, unranked guide to Mongolia's stunt and screen-action scene — a small, fast-growing industry whose real strength is equestrian. The national film council and film commission in Ulaanbaatar, the horse-stunt and trick-riding teams whose mounted archers and cavalry have ridden through Mongol, Marco Polo, Mulan and Shang-Chi, and the arts schools that train screen actors. Mongolia has no large stuntman's union or stunt academy; much of the capability lives in horse culture and the Naadam tradition. No sponsorships, no rankings.

Unions, Registers & Industry Bodies

Mongolian National Film Council

Монголын Үндэсний Кино Зөвлөл

Government Film Body · Ulaanbaatar

The top-level government film body, implementing Mongolia's Law on Promotion of Cinematography — increasing domestic production, professionalising film workers, running the up-to-45% foreign-production rebate, and helping foreign shoots with permits, locations, cast and crew (including stunt and horse talent). Its directory also profiles the leading stunt team and the main arts university; a member of the AFCI and AFCNet networks.

Mongolian National Film Commission

est. 2017

Film Commission · Ulaanbaatar

Founded 2017 with support from the office of the President of Mongolia, this commission markets Mongolia as a filming destination and brokers state resources — notably army facilities, soldiers, horses and equipment for large historical and battle sequences. Relevant to action work because cavalry, mounted extras and military hardware for epics are arranged through this channel (credits include Netflix's Marco Polo). A separate, smaller body from the film council above.

Stunt Groups & Teams

MONGOL STUNT Team

Монгол Каскадёр · Mongol Stunt Association

Stunt Team & Mounted Action · Ulaanbaatar

Mongolia's principal stunt body — an association of 100+ members, most of them active performers, supplying both action stunt performers and stunt riders. Active since 2006, the team has worked on Disney's Mulan, Marvel's Shang-Chi and Netflix's Marco Polo, plus Chinggis Khaan features. The clearest example of Mongolia's niche: large-scale mounted, archery and cavalry action drawn from the country's horse culture. Listed via its Facebook (its own site couldn't be verified).

SFM Production (Steppe Fixers Mongolia)

Production Service & Stunt Fixer · Ulaanbaatar

A long-running (since 2012) film-production service house that, alongside crewing and logistics, explicitly arranges stunts, body doubles, special vehicles and horses/camels/livestock for action and screen work. Not a stunt team in itself, but in a thin market it is one of the practical, web-verifiable routes for an incoming production to source stunt and mounted talent. Credits include Crash Landing On You and Marco Polo-era shoots.

Academies & Training

Mongolian State University of Arts & Culture

Соёл Урлагийн Их Сургууль (СУИС)

State Arts University · Ulaanbaatar

Mongolia's largest and leading arts-and-culture university, tracing its screen-performance training to 1957–59. Its School of Theatre Arts (acting for film, drama and musical theatre; directing) and School of Radio, Television and Media Arts are the country's main academic pipeline for screen actors and directors. There is no dedicated stunt or fight-choreography major; this is the realistic formal route for screen-performance skills.

Horseback-Archery & Trick-Riding Heritage

Naadam / steppe tradition

Equestrian Talent Pool · Across Mongolia

Mongolia's genuine “stunt academy” is its living horse culture. Mounted archery, galloping bareback and trick riding are taught informally from childhood and showcased at the Naadam festival — the same skill base international epics hire. There is no formal screen-stunt riding school; this heritage is exactly why Mongolia's stunt strength is equestrian, and where producers source authentic mounted talent (reached via the stunt team and fixers above).
