Stunt & Action Industry Directory

An independent, unranked guide to the Dominican Republic's stunt and screen-action world. The DR is one of the Caribbean's leading international-production hubs — a transferable tax credit, a studio campus 30 minutes from the airport, and the region's largest horizon water tank have drawn Hollywood action and underwater shoots from XXX: Return of Xander Cage and Road House to the 47 Meters Down films. Its strength is facilitation, infrastructure and water work; the resident stunt-team scene is thin, and this says so. No sponsorships, no rankings.

DGCINE

Dirección General de Cine

National Film Commission & Registry · Santo Domingo

The national film body (Law 108-10), attached to the Ministry of Culture. It administers the country's film tax incentives (including the 25% transferable tax credit), positions the DR as a destination for foreign productions, and runs SIRECINE — the official registry — plus a public directory of film professionals. There is no separate Dominican stunt union; the DGCINE directory is the nearest formal listing mechanism.

Lantica Studios

formerly Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios

Studio Campus & Water Tank · Juan Dolio

The Caribbean's flagship studio campus — a 43-acre site ~30 minutes from Santo Domingo's airport with multiple soundstages and an eight-acre water-effects facility built around a ~60,500 sq ft horizon water tank. The single biggest reason action and underwater productions come to the DR (XXX, Road House, The Lost City, the 47 Meters Down films). Also a one-stop production-service provider — facilities and crew coordination, not a resident stunt team.

Diving Services DR

Marine / Water-Action Coordination · Dominican Republic

A specialised media-diving and marine-coordination company that runs the marine department for Lantica's water tank — trained safety divers, technicians and instructors for underwater shoots. Directly action-relevant: its services explicitly include “safety standards for doubles and rigging,” diving and marine coordination and equipment rental. The closest thing the DR has to a resident specialist action-support team, anchored to its water-tank strength.

Stunt Action (José Luís Guerrero)

Cía. de Dobles de Acción

Local Stunt / Action-Double Company · Santo Domingo

A Santo Domingo stunt and action-double company founded by martial-arts professor José Luís Guerrero to prepare performers for risk scenes — screen gunfire and reactions, edged/blunt weapons, fight choreography, high falls, fire and vehicle/horse stunt riders — with credits on around 10 Dominican films. Listed honestly: social-only (the founder's “Sifu Guerrero” Facebook), and its main documentation dates to 2014, so confirm current activity before relying on it.

How action gets crewed · Dominican Republic

Honestly: the DR does not yet have a deep bench of resident stunt teams. Incoming Hollywood action and underwater productions typically bring their own stunt coordinator and department and use the DR for the water tank, locations, the tax credit and local crew/safety support — sourced through DGCINE, Lantica Studios and Diving Services DR (above). A genuine local stunt-team scene is still emerging.

Academies & Training
